PostHeaderIcon Uniforms

We have a basic and practical uniform for our children's classes in ballet, jazz and tap. New students do not need to have correct uniform for their first lesson! Allow a couple of weeks before venturing to purchase special footwear and hosiery. Students are expected to be neat and tidy for classes, and are welcome to outgrow their current gear before replacing it with the uniform leotard. Uniforms can be ordered through the centre via the New Uniform Order Form.

Buying Uniforms

You can order discounted uniforms through the Dance Centre via our Order Form. Orders are placed a couple of times per term. Uniforms can also be purchased at dance wear shops.

Second hand Uniform Sale Form.

Dance Magic

  • Pale blue short sleeve scooped neck leotard- (cotton lycra)
  • RAD regulation pale blue full skirt
  • Pink ballet shoes – Please note: Jiffies have no grip and are unsafe, and therefore not allowed.
  • Pink ballet ankle socks or tights

It is not expected that Dance Magic students should have their uniform prior to their first lesson. You are welcome to see how your child enjoys class for a couple of weeks, before purchasing the uniform. After this time, I encourage you to purchase the correct uniform as it is part of the ‘ballet experience’. Please see the teacher, as they may have some second hand items for sale.

Classical Ballet - All Grades

  • Pink ballet shoes. (Once children are in Level One, ribbons are added to ballet shoes instead of elastics.)
  • Pink ballet tights or socks.

Beginner and Primary (previously Primary and Grade One)

  • Pale blue short sleeve scooped neck leotard - (cotton lycra).
  • RAD regulation pale blue full skirt.

Preparatory and Level One (previously Grade Two and Three)

  • Dark purple Sleeveless scooped neck leotard – (cotton lycra).
  • Dark purple wrap around skirt.

Level Two onwards (previously Grade Four)

  • Black leotard (any style to suit body shape).
  • Black wrap around skirt.
(Later also may require: Black character skirt and Black character shoes.)

No jumpers or tracksuits are to be worn once class has commenced. In the cooler weather students may wear ‘cross overs’ which are available from dance wear shops. Please name all uniform items.

Jazz and Tap

Choice of jazz skirt, bike pants or dance pants (black) which can be purchased from Target or Dance Solutions. Corresponding leotard from ballet uniform OR JGDC T shirt (available from the Centre).

Jazz shoes are optional (we have discounted shoes (approx $25) available through the centre) Tap shoes are necessary once your child has decided to continue tap. They are welcome to try for a couple of weeks in sneakers before you make a purchase. We recommend the ‘Energetics’ tap shoe, it is remarkably cheaper ($40) than most other shoes on the market, (most are $60/$70) but it is still an exceptionally good shoe.
