Performances

Performances are a lovely way for you to watch and enjoy your child’s progress. Although participation in the Annual Concerts is not compulsory, we have always found that taking part is a wonderful experience for all students. It is through the annual performances that students can gain a great sense of achievement & confidence performing in front of a live audience and have a lot of fun whilst doing so. Normally, our performances are held in the last couple of weeks of Term Three.

Students wishing to take part must attend all rehearsals and pay any required fees. For children 8 years and upwards one extra rehearsal is required in the theatre on the day of the performance.

Costumes

We are aware that all mums are busy and that not all sew!

Therefore, costumes are bought from the school at a reasonable cost. We work hard to keep them around $30 per costume. There is at times a bit of light sewing required, and this is carried out by Jane and any volunteers.

Other Important Information

Parent Viewing

In all our classes, parents are not able to be present during class as this can be distracting to both teacher and students. However, it is important that your child is able to share their dancing with you and at the end of each term we hold an Open Day, for parents to view class in action.

Please note, it may be necessary for a parent to stay the first couple of weeks when settling a child into a Pre School Ballet class. Often a child will just want to watch their first class, taking in their surroundings, and observing their teacher and the other students. It’s a good idea to encourage participation in the second class however!

Student Safety

When you enrol your child, you will be asked to provide medical and emergency information. This information is confidential, however Dance Centre staff will have a copy of it with them at all classes. Each teacher is trained in First Aid, is provided with a First Aid Kit and has access to a phone. Please note that some physical contact may be necessary by a Dance Centre teacher to demonstrate exercises or techniques during class or if there is a need to administer first aid.
